A 1,200-Meter UAE Flag Handcrafted by People of Determination… Lifted High with Hearts Filled with Pride and Belonging
Zayed Authority for People of Determination organized today, Thursday, a major national event titled “Nation’s March” in the city of Al Ain, in celebration of the United Arab Emirates’ 54th Union Day. The march was held as part of the Year of Community initiatives, under the slogan “54 million Steps for the Nation” and witnessed an exceptional participation of more than 16,000 individuals from various segments of society, forming a powerful national scene that embodied pride, loyalty, and a deep sense of belonging to the homeland.
The event opened with a remarkable patriotic moment as participants raised a 1,200-meter-long UAE flag, meticulously handcrafted by 27 People of Determination from the vocational rehabilitation workshops of the Authority in Al Ain. This symbolic gesture reflected determination, resilience, and the significant role of People of Determination as active partners in development and nation-building.
During the march, participants collectively recorded more than 54 million steps, with an average of 3,375 steps per person along a distance of approximately 2.5 kilometers, sending a unified national message that the UAE is a country that embraces everyone and believes in the abilities of all its people.
The event also featured the participation of mounted units, the Abu Dhabi Police Band, national service recruits, senior citizens, students, and representatives of governmental and private entities—further enriching the national atmosphere and strengthening communal solidarity.
Statement by H.E. Abdullah Abdulalee Al Humaidan, Director General of the Zayed Authority for People of Determination
H.E. Al Humaidan said: “Nation’s March is not merely a celebratory event; it is a message of loyalty and belonging that reflects the UAE’s vision of placing every individual—without exception—at the heart of development and empowerment. The scene of the flag, handcrafted by People of Determination, is a sincere expression of our wise leadership’s belief in their abilities and in their essential role in the nation’s journey.”
He added: We are pleased with the remarkable community participation witnessed today, which reflected national unity and deep societal cohesion. At the Zayed Authority for People of Determination, we reaffirm our commitment to launching pioneering initiatives that promote inclusion and empowerment, in alignment with the Authority’s strategy and its focus on inclusivity, innovation, and sustainability.”

Ms. Moza Al Salami stated: We are proud of the participation of People of Determination in this significant national event. Today, they are not only crafting the flag with their hands but lifting it with their hearts. Nation’s March is a true embodiment of the values of union and solidarity, showcasing the role of People of Determination not just as participants, but as creators of achievement and inspiration.”
She added: We greatly appreciate the support of our partners and their role in the success of this event, which reaffirmed that the nation accommodates everyone, and that collective efforts are the path toward a more inclusive and compassionate society.”

The organization of Nation’s March came with primary support from First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), along with the participation of the Authority’s key strategic partners who contributed significantly to the success of the event, including: Al Ain City Municipality and the Department of Municipalities and Transport, Al Baddad Construction, Al Masaood Equipment Rental, AM Industries, Al Ain Water (part of Agthia Group), and Al Fardan Exchange.
Additional support was provided by second-tier partners, including: Al Ghadeer Drinking Water Factory, Road Transit Events Management, Saeed, Burjeel Royal Hospital, Munich Medical Center, and Exodia Hospitality, whose contributions added substantial value to the success of the march.
Moreover, several national entities played a key role in ensuring the seamless organization of this major national event, including: Abu Dhabi Police, the Integrated Transport Centre, Civil Defense Authority, Emirates Falcons Aviation, Emirates Foundation–Sanad, Military Secondary Schools, and Fann Hospitality Services. Their collective efforts showcased exemplary cooperation between government and private organizations in delivering an exceptional national experience that truly reflected the spirit of the Union.
