A delegation of Riyadh Chamber, KSA, namely, the Social Services Development Committee, visited Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (ZHO) for becoming acquainted with ZHO’s experience in the field of the care and rehabilitation of the people of determination, and for the discussion and exchange of expertise, and becoming familiarized with the educational, rehabilitation, psychological healthcare, and social services that are offered by ZHO.

Becomes Acquainted with Its Projects, “Al-Nahla Café”, Vocational Rehabilitation Workshops, Smart Rehabilitation Laboratory, Therapeutic Pool, Horseback Riding Therapy


A delegation of Riyadh Chamber, KSA, namely, the Social Services Development Committee, visited Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (ZHO) for becoming acquainted with ZHO’s experience in the field of the care and rehabilitation of the people of determination, and for the discussion and exchange of expertise, and becoming familiarized with the educational, rehabilitation, psychological healthcare, and social services that are offered by ZHO.

The visiting delegation included H.R.H. Princess Dania bint Abdullah Al Saud, the Chairwoman of the Social Services Development Committee, and the committee members, Khulood Al-Shayak, Noora Al-Nasban, Shadiya Ba Ali, Dr. Iman Al-Harbi, Faten Al-Dhani, Dr. Awatef Ibrahim Al-Rebai’an of the Public Authority for Applied Education & Training, Malik Al Hazmi, Judy Al Yemeni, Ranad Faleh AlAtawi and Talal Al-Qarni.


H.E. Abdullah Abdul Aali Al Humaidan, ZHO’s Secretary-General, welcomed the visit of the delegation of the Social Services Development Committee of Riyadh Chamber, emphasizing the depth of the relations between the UAE and the KSA, and the large common historic heritage, unified sold ground, and future horizon that brings both countries together.

He made reference to the existing strategic partnership and scientific cooperation between ZHO and King Salman Center for Disability Research, as well as ZHO’s strategic partnership with Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City, which constitute an embodiment of the ongoing successful dual integration of organizations within the UAE and the KSA in many fields.

His Excellency ZHO’s Secretary-General gave the members of the visiting delegation a brief explanation on the history of ZHO’s creation, the services it offers to the people of determination, the number of beneficiaries of such services, and the limitless support being provided by the leadership of the UAE to such categories. He emphasized: “ZHO is proud to offer its services to categories that are dear to us all in consistency with the best international standards under the supervision and follow-up of H.H. Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Board Chairman. ZHO is operating in a scientific approach for the accomplishment of the vision of the UAE and the vision of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the service of the people of determination, being an accelerator of social development that enhances economic development.”

The visit started with “Al-Nahla Café”, which is the first project of type in the UAE, being a café that is run by six persons of determination, which is not limited to the service of specialist coffee, but which also offers technical training for the rehabilitation of the people of determination for becoming internationally certified in the field of coffee-making. The café has been accredited as an international training center of the people of determination.

The members of the visiting delegation listened to a comprehensive presentation, accompanied with explanatory slides on ZHO, its strategic plans, programs and projects, and the services it offers to the various categories of citizens and residents of the people of determination on the level of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Vocational Rehabilitation Workshops

The delegation visited the tailoring workshop at the vocational rehabilitation workshops for students of determination, being among the pioneering projects to provide job opportunities for the people of determination of mental challenges, based on the development of rehabilitation tracks in consistency with the requirements of the labor market. The workshop has been launched as a result of a strategic cooperation between ZHO and Al Masaood Tailoring Company.

Robotics Lab

The delegation of the Social Services Development Committee of Riyadh Chamber, KSA, visited the smart robotics rehabilitation lab, being the first integrated laboratory in the middle east for therapy and rehabilitation at ZHO’s headquarters, and being one of the innovated ideas for the development of ZHO’s services. The lab contains eleven pioneering therapeutic equipment of the latest world technologies in therapy, which can be controlled by computer and robotic support equipment.

Therapeutic Pool

The visit included the therapeutic pool, which is one of the most developed therapeutic facilities on the level of the UAE, as it offers hydrotherapy services to the ZHO’s people of determination of various ages and disabilities. The pool contains a floor that is divided into two halves, where each half can be controlled separately. The pool consists of moving floors that can be automatically controlled to increase and decrease the pool’s depth as appropriate for the users, in addition to two levers for taking people of determination on wheelchairs down into the pool, an underwater electric walking device, a fixed underwater bicycle, and a parallel for training on walking.

Horseback Riding Therapy Center

The delegation of the Social Services Development Committee of Riyadh Chamber visited the horseback riding therapy center, which has been equipped according to European standards for this type of therapy. This center offers its services to the people of determination by horseback riding training and therapy, and it receives many cases from inside and outside ZHO. The services that are offered by the center include horseback riding physiotherapy, animal-assisted sensational therapy, as well as horseback riding sport.
