These initiatives include launching a joint one in cooperation with its strategic partners; the Integrated Transport Center (ITC) and the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ), as car parking permits issued to that category will be distinguishing by including the same logo on the permit. ZHO has produced a series of educational films posted through its social media platforms accounts on multiple sclerosis. Virtual rehabilitation and counseling courses will be organized for community groups and MS patients for awareness, moderated by specialists on medical, psychological, and social aspects of the disease. ZHO has completed a record of rules for rehabilitating people with this disease that lead to disability within the categories of physical disability. This comes as part of its efforts to treat MS patients and help them overcome that ordeal. This is embodied in several procedures; therapeutic services, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy for some cases, as well as psychological counseling service as the therapy goes a myriad of successive stages and is dealt with in a scientifically programmed manner since its discovery as a kind of early intervention to curb the resulting negatives.

He noted ZHO’s keenness to organize virtual workshops, training and rehabilitation courses, communicate with the Society and MS experts and benefit from their experiences in raising awareness and counseling on this disease, within the framework of providing the finest care and rehabilitation services to beneficiaries of various categories of determination under the care of the state and its infinite interest in providing all services to support their capabilities, ensure a decent life for them, achieve equality between people of determination and the various segments and society groups, and ban discrimination due to their special needs in all legislation, and economic and social development policies and programs.

MS
MS is a human disease that leads to disability. It begins to develop between the ages of 20-40. It also affects women more than men. No one can stop MS to emerge because doctors do not yet know the exact cause of the disease. Its symptoms are different and varied according to the affected nerves and severity. In critical cases, MS patients sometimes lose the ability to walk or speak. It is hard to diagnose the disease in its early stages because symptoms often appear and then disappear, and they may disappear for several months.

After all, the diagnosis relies on denying other diseases that may cause the very symptoms. Doctors can diagnose MS based on the results of some tests, including blood tests, lumbar puncture of the cerebrospinal fluid in the spine and laboratory examination, MRI examination, and neurological examination”, said Sidra Al-Mansoori, ZHO’s Director of Services for People of Determination.
Rehabilitation and psychological counseling
Al-Mansoori underscored the importance of psychological counseling in MS treatment requirements, as patients are severely affected by the disease. “Psychological and social care aims to help the patient overcome the difficulties and lack of compatibility they suffer from, which will help them with personality changes or modified surrounding environment. Thus, we affirm that Abu Dhabi-across psychological and social care service in ZHO’s centers is one of the important services for completion of treatment procedures”, she said, referring to ZHO’s soon intention to take part in community awareness on MS.
