Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (ZHO) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sheikha Fatima Fund for Refugee Women under the auspices of the UAE Red Crescent (ERC).
The agreement focuses on fostering joint community participation projects by harmonising the collective efforts of both parties. The aim is to serve the community of people of determination by harnessing their skills and integrating them into the labour market, which is mutually beneficial and aligns with the UAE government's strategy for progress.
The signing of the agreement, which took place at the ERC headquarters, was graced by Dr. Maitha Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State and Chairperson of the Supreme Committee of the Sheikha Fatima Fund for Refugee Women. The agreement was signed by Hammoud Abdullah Al Junaibi, Acting Secretary-General of the ERC, and Abdullah Abdul-Aali Al-Humaidan, Secretary-General of the ZHO.
Under the agreement, both parties will collaborate on selected community participation projects for people of determination within the Fund. They will facilitate all logistics, including facilities, staffing, training, supervision, and operations, aiming for excellence in social responsibility services.
The collaboration seeks to foster thoughtfulness and social awareness among community members through campaigns and joint activities supporting people of determination. Furthermore, both parties will participate in events organised by each other, ensuring ongoing communication to achieve their shared objectives.
Dr. Al Shamsi expressed her gratitude and delight at the agreement and highlighted the exceptional contributions made by women of determination affiliated with the Foundation, particularly their participation in community activities and events.
It aligns with the UAE's vision and the directives of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), “Mother of the Nation”, and Honorary President of the ERC. She believes that bolstering women's resilience to overcome adversity equips them to handle future challenges effectively.
In a press statement, Dr. Al Shamsi emphasised the importance of fostering a culture of sustainability and engaging women of determination in supporting refugee women. It reflects cooperative efforts across local, regional, and international entities due to their significant influence on implementing sustainability measures and their effects on individuals and societies.
Dr. Al Shamsi stated, "The Sheikha Fatima Fund for Refugee Women reinforces her unwavering efforts to economically and socially empower refugee women." She noted that Sheikha Fatima's royal directives and initiatives embody her genuine humanitarian positions in all circumstances. It has positioned her as a symbol of boundless humanitarian giving at the Emirates level and globally. Consequently, she has become a beacon for humanitarian work regionally and internationally and is among the most notable supporters and donors of humanitarian aid.
Al-Humaidan highlighted the Fund's goals of assisting refugee women and their children and providing support to empower them and enhance their capacity to tackle life's burdens.
He emphasised the importance of establishing effective partnerships with specialist organisations in supporting refugee women to ensure the successful completion of projects to alleviate their suffering.
He extended his thanks and appreciation to Dr. Al Shamsi for the trust the Fund's management has placed in the ZHO and the productive potential of people of determination. Their skills and abilities are being harnessed to integrate them into the labour market.
In the organisation's care and rehabilitation centres in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra, they have woven and produced 1,200 bags of various shapes using their hands. These bags have been donated to the Sheikha Fatima Fund in support of refugee women and to help meet their daily needs.
Al Junaibi confirmed that the signing of the agreement paved the way for new collaboration in humanitarian and societal fields, especially in enhancing the abilities of people of determination and empowering them socially and economically. He stated that the agreement would bring about a qualitative shift in the Fund’s programmes.
The Fund was established as part of a generous initiative by Sheikha Fatima, reflecting her consistent efforts to economically and socially empower refugee women. The aim is to improve their living standards by enabling them to own and manage means of production that generate a stable income, helping them to fulfil their life and familial obligations
