Under the slogan "Together We Restore Our Planet," Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination celebrated World Environment Day by participating in the awareness campaign held for this occasion in collaboration with the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi. This emphasizes their commitment to environmental conservation and increasing awareness among their members and staff about the importance of environmental issues that directly affect human health and can reduce the quality of life for individuals and communities.
The organization affirmed its dedication to fostering an environmentally conscious mindset and promoting sustainable practices within the community. They called on all their staff through internal messages to be part of the World Environment Day 2024 campaign and contribute to the efforts aimed at land restoration for current and future generations. They also encouraged spreading messages related to World Environment Day within the community about land restoration efforts in various locations.
His Excellency Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of the Organization, emphasized the importance of this event in raising environmental awareness and responsibility, and encouraging sustainable practices. This is part of the organization's efforts to instill a culture of sustainability and volunteerism among people of determination, empowering them to become active contributors to building a more sustainable and environmentally conscious society. He noted that increasing awareness of environmental issues is essential to fostering a sense of responsibility and encouraging individuals and communities to take action to protect the environment.
He stated, "At Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, we are committed to empowering and educating people of determination and their families about environmental issues, enhancing their responsibility towards environmental protection, and building their capacity to spread this awareness among community members. We encourage the organization's participation in environmental events and promote collaboration and communication with institutions and associations aimed at environmental conservation. We support the sustainability and environmental conservation agenda in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi."
On this occasion, the organization prepared a documentary film titled "Let's Keep Abu Dhabi Always Green," highlighting the importance of agriculture in the UAE and combating desertification. The efforts of the founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may he rest in peace, played a significant role in transforming the desert by planting millions of palm trees and establishing a major agricultural renaissance that turned the UAE's desert into green meadows. The film emphasizes the organization's role in supporting and empowering people of determination in various fields, including agriculture, and encouraging their productive capabilities and active contribution to society.
It is worth noting that last year, Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination signed a memorandum of understanding with the Friends of the Environment Society regarding social responsibility and environmental sustainability. The aim is to enhance the concept of environmental sustainability among the organization's educational and administrative staff, build their capacity to spread this awareness among community members, and promote the inclusion and participation of people of determination and their families in environmental and volunteer events. Additionally, they are working on a joint annual agenda to achieve the interests of both the organization and the association.
In 2020, the organization launched the "Bee Green" initiative under the global "Be the Change" campaign. This initiative aims to activate the role of people of determination in environmental conservation and sustainability awareness, applying it across various fields and enablers within the community. They inaugurated the Bee Green workshop for plastic recycling at the Zayed Agricultural Center affiliated with the organization.
