Abu Dhabi Hosts the 2025 World Shooting Para Sport World Cup, Organized by Zayed Authority for People of Determination

Under the gracious patronage of H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the Emirate of Abu Dhabi is hosting the 2025 World Shooting Para Sport World Cup. The championship will take place in Al Ain, at the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club, from October 25 to November 5, 2025, organized by Zayed Authority for People of Determination, in cooperation with the International Paralympic Committee and the World Shooting Para Sport Federation.

A total of 37 countries from across the globe are participating, with around 370 participants, including athletes, delegation heads, and international referees from inside and outside the UAE. Among them are 213 male and female athletes competing in 43 different shooting events across multiple categories for men and women. The competitions include air pistol, air and small-bore rifle, shotgun, and visually impaired shooting, all conducted in accordance with approved international standards.

This championship, held for the eighth time in Al Ain, is regarded as the most prominent international para-shooting event in the Middle East and North Africa region. Abu Dhabi has previously hosted the tournament in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2023, in addition to the World Championships in 2022, reaffirming the UAE’s distinguished position as a world-class host of major international sporting events.

Al Humaidan: Hosting the Championship Reflects the World’s Confidence in the UAE’s Capabilities

H.E. Abdullah Abdulali Al Humaidan, Director General of Zayed Authority for People of Determination, affirmed that hosting the championship for the eighth time in the UAE reflects the continued trust of the International Paralympic Committee and the World Shooting Para Sport Federation in the nation’s organizational excellence and advanced infrastructure.

He added that organizing this tournament aligns with Zayed Authority’s strategy to empower People of Determination both athletically and socially, and to enhance their participation in international events, in line with the vision of the UAE’s wise leadership to build an inclusive and sustainable society.

“We are proud to host and organize the World Shooting Para Sport World Cup on UAE soil,” he said. “Through this championship, we aim to create a motivating and inclusive competitive environment that supports the development of para-sports and allows our athletes to showcase their capabilities and represent their nation with pride.”

Al Humaidan also noted that the remarkable global achievements of UAE para-athletes are the result of the support and care of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, who has shown deep and continuous commitment to People of Determination. “Our ‘Knights of Will’ embody an inspiring model of determination, perseverance, and sporting excellence,” he concluded.

Al Awani: The Championship Highlights Abu Dhabi’s Global Leadership in Hosting Major Events

H.E. Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, welcomed Abu Dhabi’s hosting of the championship, emphasizing that this event reflects the leadership’s vision to strengthen the UAE’s global sports presence and commitment to empowering People of Determination by providing them with opportunities to showcase their talents.

He added that the ongoing hosting of this world-class tournament reaffirms Abu Dhabi’s status as the Capital of Sports and Humanity, particularly in the field of para-sports. It also demonstrates the great trust placed in the UAE by international federations and organizations, thanks to its advanced infrastructure and world-class event management standards.

Al Kamali: Our Success is the Result of Leadership’s Support and Strategic Partnerships

H.E. Abdullah Ismail Al Kamali, Executive Director of the People of Determination Sector at Zayed Authority and Chairman of the Championship’s Supreme Organizing Committee, expressed gratitude to the UAE’s wise leadership for its continuous care for People of Determination. He stated that this championship has become a key event on the international para-sport calendar, thanks to the repeated organizational successes achieved in previous editions.

He extended his appreciation to H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his generous patronage of the championship, and to the Abu Dhabi Sports Council for its strategic partnership and continuous support of the Authority in organizing major sporting events. He emphasized that national institutional collaboration is a cornerstone of success for such events, which enhance the UAE’s global presence in the field of para-sports.
