The Examination of 21506 Newborns Since Launching the “3/12 Program” in August 2018, and the Discovery of 121 Children of Determination
In the course of its journey in the fields of humanitarian care, Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (ZHO) has taken successful steps and achieved outstanding qualitative leaps, perhaps most importantly, its effort for the delivery of care and rehabilitation services to the various categories of the people of determination in all regions of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, opening new care and rehabilitation centers, and the rehabilitation and development of its centers and equipping the same with the most modern specialized scientific equipment. ZHO’s journey and efforts for the care of such categories, who are dear to all of us, went on under direct instructions of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE (May Allah Protect Him), with the follow-up and supervision of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Chairman of ZHO’s Board of Directors, by the expansion of the services that are offered by ZHO at all centers and the creation of new divisions and therapeutic units.
ZHO is one of the implementing organizations of the policies and programs of our wise government for providing the service of the rehabilitation, care and education of such categories of our children in order to achieve the objective of their enablement and integration within the society and to encourage the building of a society that provides equal opportunities for all citizens. ZHO provides its services to more than 18 thousand beneficiaries. Thanks to its will, ambition and capability, ZHO has been able to get out the people of determination from dependence to enablement and engagement within the society in conjunction with their peers.
His Excellency/ Abdullah Abdul Ali Al-Humaidan, ZHO’s Secretary-General, says: “The UAE cares for providing a decent life for all categories of the society, especially the people of determination, as it has created specialized centers for their care and rehabilitation and for their enablement and integration within the society. It also gives them priorities in receiving the various services at all organizations of the State, in appreciation of their constructive contributions, and in appreciation of their families that motivate them to give.”
He confirmed in a press conference on the occasion of the International Day of Disabled Persons: “The support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE (May Allah Protect Him), and his generous care of ZHO’s journey and the wise directions of His Highness are a platform for action for ZHO’s family and always motivate us to do our best in the service of our sons and daughters of the people of determination and all the beneficiaries of ZHO’s services.”
In the end of his statement, His Excellency/ Abdullah Al-Humaidan reemphasized: “ZHO cares for the provision of outstanding high-quality services to all the categories of the people of determination on the level of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi according to the highest world-class standards by a number of vital projects and initiatives that are being undertaken by ZHO in various fields, expansion in a number of new construction projects, the ongoing improvement and development of essential services, supporting therapeutic services, evaluation, early intervention, and the other specialized services that are provided by ZHO at its various centers throughout the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.”
The Early Detection of Disabilities Program
ZHO revealed that the number of children examined through the “3/12 Program” for the early detection of disabilities, since launching the same in August 2018, in cooperation and coordination with the Health Authority – Abu Dhabi (HAAD) and Abu Dhabi Digital Authority (ADDA), in the course of ZHO’s efforts and initiatives in service of the family and the society, is 21501 newborns of both sexes, including 13790 children from the families of citizens and 7711 children of the families of residents, out of which 121 cases of disability have been observed, including 71 newborn citizens and 50 newborns of the families of residents. 31 cases were made to join ZHO’s care and rehabilitation centers, whereas the total number of cases that were evaluated and for which a diagnostic report was issued at ZHO’s total evaluation departments was 83 cases.”
The Emirati Genome for the People of Determination
& Their Families
In 2022, ZHO implemented three stages of tests for the Emirati Genome Program project for the people of determination and their families, in cooperation with G42 Healthcare Company, within ZHO’s initiatives for availing of the advanced scientific research in the age of innovation and the application of scientific approaches in the delivery of care and rehabilitation programs and therapeutic sessions. The program will enrich the current health data of the people of determination and their families by the production of the designated reference genes of citizens and the steering of scientific discoveries on a large scale, as knowing the genetic sequence helps scientists and physicians to devise a treatment and prevention plan for the society based on the findings of the genetic analysis of citizens.
The “Get a Job Opportunity” Initiative
ZHO has launched a new communal national initiative titled “Get a Job Opportunity” for the recruitment of the specialized citizens in physiotherapy and speech therapy in the private sector. ZHO coordinated with its strategic partners in the field of healthcare of private sector organizations by taking part in the implementation of the initiative that is consistent with the directives of the wise leadership for the recruitment of a number of job-seeker citizens of those who hold a Bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy and speech therapy for the purpose of their appointment. The first stage resulted in the selection of 11 female physiotherapists of fresh graduate citizens, who joined employment for 6 specialized centers of ZHO’s partners in the field of healthcare, namely, the Czech Rehabilitation Hospital, Noubel Rehabilitation Center, Excellency & Munich Group of Centers, Berlin Center, Al Reem Hospital, and Reyada Management of Medical Facilities.
The “Mabrouk Ma Dabret” System
Five persons of determination took part in the group wedding organized by Abu Dhabi Councils of the Citizens & Community Affairs Office of the Presidential Court at Al Bateen Council, as the first outcome of registrants in the family stability support program Mabrouk Ma Dabret” for the marriage of the people of determination, launched by His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Deputy Prime Minister & the Ministry of Interior, with the presence of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Chairman of ZHO’s Board of Directors, last September, within the unified services system of the Government of Abu Dhabi “Tamm” for the support and encouragement of this category of the society by the provision of services to facilitate the building and formation of happy, stable and coherent families by ZHO’s cooperation with the Demographic Council and six authorities, namely: Citizens & Community Affairs Office of the Presidential Court, the Ministry of Community Development, Abu Dhabi Housing Authority (ADHA), the Family Development Foundation (FDF), and Abu Dhabi Digital Authority (ADDA).
The Presentation of Drama Shows
On the occasion of the International Day of Disabled Persons, which takes place on the 3rd of December of every year, the screens of Abu Dhabi Media and the Netflix international TV platform begin the launching and presentation of the first drama show under the management of the people of determination, produced by Filmgate Productions, in cooperation and coordination with ZHO. The idea of the show was proposed by Filmgate, which is financing the project, and which is an independent productions company in Abu Dhabi, in line with the company’s vision for offering new opportunities for all skilled persons in the productions field of all countries, ages and capabilities. Filmgate contacted ZHO, requesting cooperation for access to the people of determination in the Arab World and to learn from ZHO’s rich expertise in this field.
Sensational Rooms
In cooperation with Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority (ECA), ZHO has completed the installation of two sensational rooms at Abu Dhabi International Airport for providing safe spaces for the children of determination, especially autistic children, for the enhancement of their welfare and integration in public places, and for the development of the therapy and rehabilitation services being provided to them. ZHO entered a joint memorandum of understanding in this regard with Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) within its ambitious project which aims to disseminate six “sensational rooms” in a number of trading centers and vital areas in Abu Dhabi, in cooperation and coordination with ECA.
The Central Workshop of Prosthetics
ZHO announced the commencement of the operation of the central workshop of prosthetics & osteopathy, the first of type on the level of the UAE, at ZHO’s vocational rehabilitation workshops building at Al Bahia area in Abu Dhabi, to serve the market of the UAE and GCC States. Furthermore, it supports the employment of the people of determination according to their physical abilities, in implementation of the strategic cooperation agreement signed by ZHO with the German company, OTB Bauerfeind.
The “Hemam Farms” Platform
In cooperation with the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, ZHO launched a qualitative initiative for the encouragement of farming by the creation of an online portal on its website for the assistance and encouragement of farm owners, agricultural companies, as well as consultants and those who are interested in farming, especially of the various categories of the people of determination and their parents for the selection of the appropriate farming plans and produce. The portal provides the best methods for the success of many of the agricultural produce we need, arising from the perspective of that agriculture is the most important element for the stability of the society, and the pioneering agricultural experience of the UAE in this field.
Paralympic Shooting World Championship
On the sports level, and under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Charitable & Humanitarian Foundation (Zayed CHF), ZHO organized, for the first time on MENA level, the competitions of the Paralympic Shooting World Championship 2022 in the city of Al Ain at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club over the period 3-18 November, by the organization of ZHO in cooperation and coordination with the International Paralympic Shooting Federation and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), with the participation of 54 countries of the various continents of the world in the competitions of the tournament, represented by 540 participants, including 296 athletes, out of which 214 are male and 82 are female. IPC allocated 31 qualification tickets for competing shooters in the various tournaments enlisted to take part directly in the competitions of Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
The Sports Encouragement Initiative
In coordination and cooperation with the General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police, ZHO launched a communal initiative titled “Cheer for your team with sportsmanship, and enjoy the competition”. ZHO produced 4740 sports ribbons for a number of clubs of the UAE as made by the hands of its members of the people of determination. In photographic messages, ZHO called its members of the people of determination of football lovers to cheer for their teams in a civilized manner and to stay away from fights, especially on social networking media, in order to avoid legal accountability. The production included the ribbons of Al Ain Club, Al Wahda Club, Al Jazira Club, Al Wasl Club, and El Ahly Club & El Zamalek Club in Egypt, and the Argentina national football team.
Participation in the “Decent Living” Initiative in Egypt
In the course of the participation of the UAE, as represented by ZHO, in one of the concentrations of the “Decent Living” initiative, launched by H.E. President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the President of the Egyptian Arab Republic, for the enhancement of social protection for the most needful categories of the people of determination within the axes of human development that target the categories of the society, ZHO and Abu Dhabi Holding (ADQ), which is one of the largest holding companies on the region’s level, announced the launching of the special edition of the “Bridges of Hope” program for the support of the people of determination in the Egyptian Arab Republic, in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Youth & Sports, which is overseeing the People of Capabilities & Determination Office, and which provides an integrated set of services for the people of special capabilities in Egypt in terms of education, rehabilitation and therapy services within its specialization.
One of the objectives of the “Bridges of Hope” program is the redevelopment and opening of 60 centers in a number of various Egyptian villages, for the enhancement of the services provided for the people of special capabilities of various disabilities, to raise the awareness of their families and to support the development of the family’s skills in dealing with their children in order to handle learning difficulties and overcome any potential challenges the family might face in bringing up their children of special capabilities.
Al-Ataa Award
ZHO announced launching the second version of Al-Ataa Award for Communal Excellency, for offering the opportunity for the various categories of the people of determination and their families and supporting entities to compete and excel within its various categories, in line with ZHO’s intensive efforts for the adoption of the best practices in the field of their care and rehabilitation, and the instilment of the culture of excellence. ZHO has allocated five categories for the award. The first one is the inspiring student of determination award, dedicated for every student who wishes to take part and who is registered at the care and rehabilitation centers, schools of education, applied and technical institutes of technology, or universities and colleges on the level of the UAE in the age group of (6 to 35 years old). The second one is the ideal family of determination award, dedicated for every citizen and resident family in the UAE that has children of determination, where nomination shall be done in the family’s name.
The third award is the ideal mother award, dedicated for every mother of a child of determination. The fourth award is the studies & research award, which is granted to those individuals, entities and companies that are interested in the field of social care and disability sciences on the level of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The last award is the friendly entity to the people of determination award, which targets the local community of public and private organizations in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and which is granted to the entity that strives to implement initiatives by which it creates an appropriate atmosphere for the people of determination by the preparation of outstanding properties and services for the people of determination and the utilization of their powers.
