Establishment and Funding of a Medical Convoy Touring Several Governorates to Provide Urgent Medical Care for People of Determination and Their Families



In implementation of the joint cooperation protocol signed last November between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, under the " Bridges of Hope Holding" program, sponsored and supported by "Holding (ADQ)," to rehabilitate and develop 60 of the Ministry’s speech therapy centers and provide internet services to these centers, as well as establishing and funding a medical convoy touring several governorates to provide urgent medical care for people of determination and their families, 10 new speech therapy centers have been opened in 6 governorates, benefiting 643 young men and women with disabilities.


In his speech, His Excellency Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, expressed his happiness with the tangible progress achieved through the cooperation protocol between the Ministry and Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination from the United Arab Emirates. He praised the quick readiness of the Ministry’s speech therapy centers to welcome beneficiaries, stating: "We are proud of our cooperation with the organization. The historical and strategic brotherly relations between our two countries are built on trust, understanding, and a shared destiny. They serve as a model for brotherly relations between two sister countries, thanks to the shared vision of the political leaderships in both countries." He also extended his thanks and appreciation to Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination and the Holding ADQ company for this cooperation, which serves people of determination within the Arab Republic of Egypt, providing a free service for Egyptian families with children with disabilities, to integrate them into society and provide a decent life for them.


The Minister of Youth and Sports praised the role of Zayed Higher Organization in enhancing efforts aimed at empowering people of determination and their families, reinforcing their role in community development, and providing all means to facilitate their activities in a manner befitting their rights. This is to integrate them into society through special programs that work on developing their abilities and benefiting from their talents within a comprehensive development system.

For his part, His Excellency Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, affirmed that the launch of speech therapy centers in six Egyptian governorates, both in Upper and Lower Egypt, represents a positive step towards completing the system of providing care and therapeutic sessions for beneficiaries in these areas. This is part of the cooperation protocol, transferring expertise, and supporting families of people of determination across Egypt through family counseling programs and developing speech therapy centers in villages in 27 governorates, thanks to the support and assistance from all Egyptian state agencies.


The project aims to develop skills for those with autism spectrum disorders, delayed speech, speech problems, hyperactivity disorders, attention deficit disorders, learning difficulties, and behavior modification issues.


This initiative supports and empowers people of determination through awareness programs for their families and guardians, aiming to develop their skills in dealing with their children. A team of social workers and speech therapists will organize workshops to identify learning difficulties, obstacles, and challenges they face, providing them with the specialized skills necessary to overcome them. Additionally, programs designed to offer psychological and social support will be implemented.


Ten centers have been equipped in (Qalyubia, Dakahlia, Monufia, Qena, Sohag, and New Valley) with the latest tools and devices to provide speech therapy sessions, behavior modification, skill development, learning difficulties, and sensory integration, in addition to psychological assessment. Personal interviews have been completed for a number of young, specialized cadres nominated to work as specialists in these centers. It is planned to complete the establishment of 30 speech therapy centers by the end of 2024.



In Qalyubia governorate, the centers (Kom Al-Atroon serves 40 people of determination, Al-Amal in Khanka serves 40 people of determination, and Qanater Charity Club serves 45 people of determination). In Dakahlia governorate (Qonjil Youth Center serves 100 people of determination, and Badawi Youth Center serves 60 people of determination). In Qena governorate (Hajer Khozam Youth Center serves 63 people of determination, and Najj Salama Youth Center serves 75 people of determination). In Sohag governorate (Bardis Youth Center serves 75 people of determination). In Monufia governorate (Ashmoun Youth Center serves 45 people of determination). In New Valley governorate (Paris Youth Center serves 100 people of determination).


It is worth noting that the joint cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the organization in the " Bridges of Hope Holding " program, in its first phase, achieved great success in transferring expertise and supporting families of people of determination across various governorates through family counseling programs and developing 68 speech therapy centers in Egyptian villages, benefiting 16,898 people of determination through 480,976 speech therapy sessions in 68 centers distributed across all governorates.
