Under the slogan "Building an Inclusive and Equitable Society," on UAE Medical Day, an open day was held at the "Zayed Higher" headquarters.

The event showcased research initiatives and specialized healthcare services for people with disabilities, along with family support programs and quality of life improvements.



Under the same slogan, Zayed Higher Organization for People with Disabilities organized an open day at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi for the parents and families of people with disabilities. This was in celebration of UAE Medical Day to present research initiatives and services in specialized healthcare for their loved ones, as well as family support and quality of life programs, in coordination and cooperation with several strategic partners including the UAE University College of Medicine, Abu Dhabi Public Health Center, Fakih Medical Center, the Czech Rehabilitation Hospital, Riyada Center, Berlin Medical Center, and Mediclinic.

Mr. Abdullah Al Hamidan, the Secretary-General of the organization, emphasized that this event provides a wonderful opportunity for the parents of people with disabilities from the organization and others to directly interact with healthcare specialists and doctors, ask questions, and exchange ideas on healthcare for their loved ones. He noted that the organization aims to enhance health awareness and provide appropriate support for the health and well-being of our children, highlighting a healthcare environment designed to meet the unique needs and abilities of people with disabilities and their families. At the same time, it works to advance knowledge and methodologies through research efforts and advocacy.

He praised the response of all partners of the organization from healthcare providers and specialists for participating in this day with the aim of improving access to healthcare services for people with disabilities and their families. This includes enhancing health education and raising awareness in the community about the needs and rights of people with disabilities. Additionally, the effort supports and enhances comprehensive medical care that covers a wide range of specialties for these groups, ensuring the availability of health services at an affordable cost and inclusivity for all community segments, including people with disabilities. It also fosters cooperation and partnerships with local healthcare providers, government agencies, and relevant organizations to enhance healthcare services for people with disabilities.

The display of specialized care services on the open day aims to provide specialized health services that offer comprehensive and integrated care for people with disabilities, develop individual programs tailored to meet the needs of each person based on the type and extent of their disabilities, and provide medical rehabilitation, physical therapy, speech and audio-visual therapy. It also includes providing psychological and social support for people with disabilities and their families, including guidance and counseling.

In terms of research initiatives in the healthcare field for people with disabilities, the organization is working to enhance research in health and disability to improve understanding of the needs and challenges faced by people with disabilities. It encourages studies that explore best practices and technologies for improving early detection and early intervention, and supports research focused on new medical technologies and innovations in the field of disabilities and rehabilitation.

Regarding programs for family support and quality of life, Zayed Higher Organization for People with Disabilities organizes educational workshops for families of people with disabilities to enhance their understanding of their children's needs and how to provide appropriate support. It offers rehabilitative programs for families aimed at enhancing caregiving skills and interaction with their children with disabilities and provides psychological and social support to family members to help them cope with the daily challenges they face in caring for their loved ones with disabilities.
