About the Authority:
In unifying national efforts dedicated to the care of People of Determination, and under the directives of the late His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace, the late His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, may he rest in peace, issued Law No. (2) on April 19, 2004 (29 Safar 1425 AH), during his tenure as Crown Prince, establishing the Zayed Authority for People of Determination in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The law stipulated that all humanitarian care centers and social service institutions for People of Determination be merged under the Authority, along with any similar entities that may be established in the future within the Emirate, to achieve humanitarian objectives.
In September 2025, the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Council, approved the formation of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Authority for People of Determination, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The Authority operates under the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi, and is responsible for providing specialized social care services to People of Determination across the emirate, thereby strengthening the system of care and inclusion. The Authority enjoys full financial and administrative independence.
Services of the Authority:
The Zayed Authority for People of Determination oversees care centers and sports clubs dedicated to People of Determination, providing integrated services aimed at rehabilitation and inclusion within society. These services include training, education, vocational rehabilitation, and therapeutic services such as assessment, early intervention, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and vocational training workshops, in addition to psychological care, family counseling, and support for educational and sports activities.
Throughout its journey, the Authority has made significant progress in the field of humanitarian care—most notably by expanding access to rehabilitation and support services for all categories of People of Determination across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Following the directives of the wise leadership, it continues to broaden and develop its services, establishing new therapeutic units and specialized divisions in centers throughout Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra.
