Arab Deaf Week was launched based on the recommendations of the second conference of the Arab Federation of Organizations Working with the Deaf, which was held in Damascus from the 24th to the 26th of April 1974; the same week that marks Arab Deaf Week annually, where governmental, civil, and private Arab deaf entities meet for a unified purpose, under a specific theme, which is chosen in coordination with the federation.
