Provision of Treatment and Rehabilitation Services for People of Determination
Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination has concluded a joint memorandum of understanding with the American Psychological and Neurological Center regarding the provision of therapeutic and rehabilitative services, and joint cooperation in the preparation, construction and use of constructive, preventive and curative programs in the field of mental health. The agreement also includes provisions regarding addressing acute behavioral problems in people of determination, in addition to conducting research and a joint scientific study in the field of rehabilitation and disability sciences.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by His Excellency Abdullah Abdulalee Al Humaidan, Secretary General of Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, and by Mr. Shafqat Malik, Executive Director of the American Psychological and Neurological Center.
According to the memorandum of understanding, Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination and the American Psychological and Neurological Center will establish an electronic link to facilitate data exchange relating to people of determination, enabling the organization to view reports, access treatment plans and revise treatment expenditure through health insurance codes on all organization affiliated people of determination who have received services from then center.
Dr. Fatima Al Dhaheri, Director of the Healthcare Department at Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, welcomed the signing of the memorandum of understanding with the American Psychological and Neurological Center, a medical institution that provides the highest level of primary and specialized medical care, in addition to providing health education services and having extensive experience in treating mental illnesses, which will greatly support the organization in providing specialized services to its affiliated people of determination.
She added: “We at Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, under the supervision and follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors, are working to rehabilitate people of determination to be an effective part of society in a way that achieves the organization's vision of equal rights that deepen the happiness and societal empowerment of people of determination. Through programs such as these, people of determination, their families and their guardians, as a result of increased individual and social awareness, experience increased inclusion and are given the opportunity to contribute to society. This development promotes confidence among people of determination encouraging them to assume more active roles in their communities and highlighting their social roles, roles which benefit not only people of determination themselves, but society as a whole".
Dr. Fatima Al Dhaheri emphasized that the signing of the memorandum comes as an extension of the organization's current initiatives and services as part of an integrated system which includes innovation and modern methodologies, and is based on the strategic goals and shared vision in relation to social responsibility in achieving sustainable social development and building a healthy society, through dedicated efforts in humanitarian and healthcare services and initiatives for people of determination.
